The Philippines has been a top provider of seafarers in the world and is also considered an archipelago with 65% of the country living in coastal regions. Given that many livelihoods has been dependent on our oceans, it is embarrassing that we are also at the top of the countries that are the worst in plastic pollutants that are going into our oceans.
Many organizations have made efforts to remedy this, government and non-governmental organizations alike. We are here to promote not only individual volunteerism but also collaboration among different organizations in order to provide a long-lasting and sustainable impact with regards on marine environment protection.
Join us in this endeavor as we continue to strengthen our efforts of rehabilitating our relationship – Filipinos and our seas.
Philippine Marine Protection Starts here
What We Do
Education and Awareness Programs
Marine protection starts with educating the Filipinos on the current state of our waters and how we can reevaluate how we use or abuse this resource. PHILMEPA’s mission is to reach out to different institutions that can help mitigate our growing problem of not understanding the effects of our individual or organizational actions towards our waters.
Coastal Clean Up
National efforts on coastal clean up starts with the participation of locals in different parts of the Philippines. By partnering with local organizations, such as Seed4Com in Cebu and the PCGA in Albay, PHILMEPA takes action in restoring the biodiversity of our oceans.
Mural Painting
Awareness and admission of a problem is the first step towards change. Beautiful murals are hard to ignore, the message we communicate through meaningful street art are bound to bring to light the neglect bad habits we have accumulated in years.
